Our History

The Barrera family and the Gutiérrez family decided to join forces and founded Constantino Gutiérrez S.A. We started marketing ammonium Sulphate and Super 18, both manufactured in the Barrera family companies.

We started marketing granular NPK fertilisers.

Due to the restructuring of the fertiliwer industry in Spain, we changed the business model and began to import raw materials from abroad.

We introduced calcium nitrates in the market and after reaching a trade agreement with the multinational Hydro (now Yara) we became their official distributor in the provinces of Alicante, Murcia, Albacete and Ciudad Real.

By mutual agreement, we ended the relationship with the multinational Hydro and as a reinvention strategy we launched Planets, the first range of specialized products in the Spanish market. This initiative opened a new horizon for the company.

We acquired a 66% stake in Fertisac, the first superphosphate and complex NPK factory in Spain.

We made our way into the international market, making the first export to Morocco.

We launched Solumed, our first range of 100% water soluble crystalline NPK fertilizers, suited to application through all fertigation systems.

We launched a new range of specialised organic fertilisers (our Ecomed range).

After fifty years, we started a profound process of digitalization and long-term strategic replanning. This new path involves a new way of doing things, of committing to a sustainable future, without forgetting - of course - where we come from and who we are.
